Bill Huston Sr., as a Maroon football captain his senior season, scored 22 touchdowns and three extra points that year. His squad had an 8-1 record and averaged more than 30 points per game. Captain Huston was rated by coaches and sportswriters throughout the state as being one of the greatest prep ball carriers in Illinois. In the football game of his high school career, Bill scored four touchdowns in a 47-6 victory over Kelvyn Park. He was a starting forward on the basketball team his senior season. As a three-year member of the track team, he competed in the unusual combination of dashes and discus. He also helped his relay team make it to the state competition.
