Dana Anastasia (1983)

 

Dana Anastasia was awarded 10 varsity letters. Anastasia stood out in wrestling, where he set career and season records for most takedowns and wins. He was a two-time state qualifier who took third at the 1983 state meet. As a junior, Anastasia finished runner-up in the conference tournament and third in Sectionals as he became the first state-qualifier in four years. Anastasia helped lead the Maroons to a fourth place team finish at the state tournament. As a senior, Anastasia won the Big 12 title at 145 pounds. He also qualified for the state track meet that year in the pole vault. Dana was victorious in almost every track meet he entered, as a senior, and finished second in the conference. In football he was a defensive starter for two years as the Maroons twice qualified the State Playoffs. Anastasia was named to second-team All-Conference in his senior season, helping lead the Maroons to the second round of the state playoffs and 9-2 record. During his two years as a varsity starter the Maroons had a combined record of 19-4.
