J Leman earned 8 varsity letters during his career at CHS, three each in football and basketball and two in track. In football, Leman helped lead the Maroons to back-to-back State Playoff appearances. His dominance on the field helped him earn first-team All-Conference and All-Area recognition during his junior and senior seasons. He was also named to the IFCA’s All-State team. In basketball, Leman helped the Maroons to a Big 12 title as a junior. During his senior season he was selected team MVP, first-team All-Conference and All-Area. Leman continued his football career at Illinois. An NCAA consensus All-American in 2007, Leman was also named to the Big Ten's first team defense in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, Leman led Illinois to nine wins and helped the team earn a trip to the Rose Bowl. Leman was the team MVP during his senior season. After going undrafted in the 2008 NFL Draft, Leman signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
