Jason Sempsrott (1993)

 

Jason Sempsrott earned 12 varsity letters in four sports: four in cross country, four in basketball, three in track, and one in baseball. He is best known for his cross country and basketball accomplishments. He won the 1991 Twin City meet and later placed 15th at state. In track, Sempsrott placed third at state in the 800-meter run, and he clocked a best time 1:55.8. As a senior, he was a News Gazette All-Area and All-Big 12 pick in basketball, finishing third on Central's all-time scoring list. He was named the MVP of the News Gazette Holiday Tournament, IBCA All-Star, and McDonald's News-Gazette All-Star. Jason received the Seely Johnston Outstanding Male Athlete award in 1993 and later played basketball at South Dakota State. When Jason completed his career at SDSU he ranked 9th in scoring (23.9) and 7th in free throw percentage (89%) and 20th in assists (6.0). He was the MVP of the North Central Conference and led the Jackrabbits to consecutive conference titles.
