Robert Zebe (1978)

Robert Zebe earned five varsity letters at Champaign, two in football and three in track and field and was named the Seely Johnston Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year. Zebe twice finished third in the state track and field meet in the pole vault as a junior and fourth as a senior. He still owns the school record (14 feet, 8.5 inches) and was named a two-time All-American. Robert won 21 individual events, including 15 pole vault titles during his senior year and was twice crowned Big 12 Conference champ in that event. He also ran a leg on the state placing (7th) mile relay team in 1977. He won four events at the Twin City meet. During his track career at CHS, Zebe won 47 events in track and field. As a junior in football, CHS finished the season ranked 15th in the State with an 8-1 record.
