Stu Clark (1957)

Stu Clark set a school record for rushing in his senior year of 1956. He gained 1,040 yards and averaged over 10 yards a carry for the Maroon powerhouse that went undefeated and won the Big 12 title. His record was later broken by Billy Huston. Clark won six letters at CHS, three in football, two in track, and one in wrestling. He was named All-State by the News Gazette, Chicago American and Chicago Daily News. He received honorable mention on some All-American teams. In track, he was a broad jumper and sprinter, leading off the Maroons' 880-yard relay. He broke a dual meet record in the broad jump against Urbana at 21-1 1/2 and went to State in that event. Clark chose Wisconsin for college and was a member of the Rose Bowl team there in 1960. He played later at Ft. Campbell, KY on the Air Force team that won the Missile Bowl.
