William Summerville (1996)

Willie Summerville was a hard-running fullback for the Maroons. During his junior year, Summerville teamed with fellow Hall of Famer Terrayel Cartmill to total over 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns. Summerville had 950 and 8 touchdowns, while averaging 6.9 yards per carry. In his senior year, he gained 1,234 yards rushing and scored 15 touchdowns, while averaging 7.4 yards per carry. He scored 11 touchdowns and gained 750 yards rushing in his first four games before getting injured early in the 5th game against Centennial. Summerville twice earned All-Conference and All-Area recognition. Willie also earned a varsity letter in track and was a member of a state qualifying 4*400m relay team. After graduating from Central, Willie went to Milliken University and then transferred to Henderson State University and earned a partial football scholarship. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater with a minor in dance. He later earned his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University. Currently, Willie is an ordained Baptist Minister and serves as Chaplain for the Elizabeth Hospice in North San Diego County. Willie is working toward a PhD at Claremont School of Theology.
